Countries & Zones

The Countries & Zones tab lets you define geographic regions that can be used in discount targeting. This is essential if you sell internationally and want different discounts for different markets.

What is a zone?

A zone is a named group of countries. Examples:

Creating a zone

1. Go to the Countries & Zones tab
2. Click + Add Zone
3. Enter a Zone Name (e.g., “EU”) and click Add Zone
4. The zone appears as a new column in the country list. Tick the box in that column for each country to include (use Search countries… to find them)
5. Publish your changes

Zones are published with the same draft/publish workflow as discounts — zone edits stay pending until you click Publish changes.

A country can belong to more than one zone. Click a zone’s name to rename it, and drag column headers to reorder them.

Mirroring a WooCommerce shipping zone

Click + Add WC mirror and pick one of your WooCommerce shipping zones. The new column tracks that shipping zone’s country list automatically and is read-only here — edit it in WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping. Shipping zones defined only by continent, postcode or state/region can’t be mirrored, because Dino targets by country.

Auto ROW

The last column, Auto ROW (rest of world), is managed for you: it always contains every country that isn’t in any of your other zones.

Using zones in targeting

Once a zone exists, you can reference it in any discount’s Where section:

1. Open a discount in the editor
2. Scroll (or click) to the Where does it apply? section
3. Tick Customers in specific zones and pick one or more zones

The discount will only apply to customers whose country falls within the selected zone(s).

By default that is their shipping country, falling back to billing (and then your store’s own country) when there is no shipping address — for example on a cart of downloads. That matches the address WooCommerce itself uses to work out taxes and shipping zones, so a shopper who ships to a different country than they bill gets the discounts written for the country the order is going to. You can change which address is used under Settings → Country matching uses — “Billing → Shipping → Store” is still available if you want the reverse.

Country matching used to check the billing address first. Existing stores that never changed the setting are moved to the new shipping-first default on upgrade, and shown a one-time notice explaining it. If your zone targeting changed after updating, this is why — and choosing “Billing → Shipping → Store” restores exactly the old behaviour.

Common use cases

Regional pricing

Create different discounts for different markets. A 10% off tiered discount for the UK and a 15% off version for EU countries, reflecting different price sensitivities.

Market launch offers

When expanding to a new region, create a welcome discount targeted to that zone only. Remove it once you’ve established your presence.

Currency-aware deals

Different zones can have different discount amounts that make sense in the local currency. A “£10 off” deal becomes “€12 off” in the EU zone — you create separate discounts, each targeted to its zone.

Keep zones simple

Start with 2–3 broad zones (domestic, international, and perhaps one key market). You can always split them later. Too many zones with overlapping countries creates confusion.
