Coupons
While Dino Discounts’ core strength is automatic discounts, sometimes you need coupon codes — for email blasts, influencer partnerships, or tracked promotions where you want to measure redemption.
The Coupons tab lets you create coupons — groups of codes that share the same discount settings.
Automatic discounts vs coupon codes
Section titled “Automatic discounts vs coupon codes”| Automatic discounts | Coupon codes | |
|---|---|---|
| Customer action | None — applies automatically | Must enter or click a code |
| Best for | Everyday pricing, volume deals, bundles | Marketing pushes, partnerships, tracked promotions |
| Visibility | Customer sees discount in cart automatically | Customer needs to know the code exists |
| Tracking | Per-rule analytics | Per-code redemption tracking |
You can run both at the same time. The Coupon Interaction global setting controls how they combine (see Global Settings).
Coupon concepts
Section titled “Coupon concepts”A coupon is a container for one or more codes that share the same settings:
- Coupon type — Standard, Bulk Pool, or URL Token
- Linked discount — Optionally links the coupon to an existing discount rule
- Usage tracking — Each code tracks its own redemption count and history
For example, a “Summer Newsletter” bulk-pool coupon with prefix SUMMER might generate hundreds of unique codes like SUMMER-A8K2X9 — all linked to the same discount rule but tracked individually so you know which code was redeemed by whom.
What you can do
Section titled “What you can do”- Create coupons from the Coupons tab toolbar, from inside the discount wizard, or from any coupon targeting field
- Choose a coupon type — a single shared code, a bulk pool of unique codes, or a URL auto-apply token
- Generate codes in bulk — Create hundreds of unique codes at once for email or partner distribution
- Search codes — Use Find Coupon to look up any code by name or prefix and see its full history
- Export codes — Download CSV files per batch or across an entire coupon
- Track redemptions — The Coupons table’s Used column shows each coupon’s total redemptions at a glance; open a coupon (or use Find Coupon) for per-code usage counts, last-used dates, and order numbers
